The Role

Erskine Stewart Melville are currently recruiting for a Teacher Assistant (Primary 1) to join the Junior School on a temporary basis from 14 August 2026 to 15 August 2027 (subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks). The role is part time and term time, working Monday to Friday 1‑2.30 pm (a total of 7.5 hrs per week) with a salary of £4,289.62. The role is based at the ESM Junior School in Ravelston Dykes.

Responsibilities

  • Support teaching staff within the classroom and with administration
  • Supervise children in the lunch hall, in the playground and, in inclement weather, within the classroom.
  • Work with individual children as directed by the Support for Learning Department.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have experience of working with children and will be a kind and enthusiastic person who puts the interests of the children first. Ideally they would have experience of supporting a teacher in a classroom.

ESMS is unable to sponsor the employment of international workers in this role. International applicants will therefore be unable to apply for and secure a Skilled Worker visa. The successful candidate will only be able to take up this role if they can demonstrate an alternative right to work in the UK.
