Overview
Vision for Education Cardiff is currently recruiting Psychology and Criminology graduates to support schools across the Newport area. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates looking to gain hands‑on experience within education, child development, behaviour support, mental health or additional learning needs (ALN).
The role involves supporting primary‑aged pupils on a 1:1 and small‑group basis, helping children overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. Schools are seeking enthusiastic, compassionate and proactive individuals who are passionate about supporting young people.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with a range of additional learning and behavioural needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Cerebral Palsy, Down’s Syndrome, Sensory Processing Difficulties and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, support wellbeing and behaviour strategies, recognise behavioural patterns, and encourage engagement with learning activities and classroom routines.
- Assist in creating and implementing individual learning plans and behavioural interventions.
- Collaborate with teaching staff, school psychologists and external agencies to provide comprehensive support.
- Maintain accurate records and progress reports.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Graduated or currently completing a degree in Psychology or Criminology.
- Understanding of behaviour, mental health and child psychology.
- Passion for supporting children and young people.
- Willingness to apply academic knowledge in an educational setting.
- Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one – assistance available).
- Completion of free safeguarding training.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Valid overseas police check if lived abroad for more than six months within last five years.
