About the role

We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Secondary Teaching Assistant to join our supportive and forward‑thinking secondary school in Wisbech from September. This is a full‑time role, ideal for someone passionate about education and keen to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with classroom teachers to support students across a range of subjects and abilities. You will play a key role in helping to create an engaging and supportive classroom environment, providing both academic and pastoral support to students, including those with additional needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons
  • Provide one‑to‑one and small group support to students
  • Assist in the preparation of classroom materials and resources
  • Help manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
  • Support students with additional learning needs, including SEN
  • Encourage student participation and engagement in lessons
  • Monitor and report on student progress and wellbeing

Pre‑requisites

  • Previous experience working with young people (school‑based experience desirable)
  • Two recent references
  • A patient, supportive, and proactive approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • A genuine interest in education and student development
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (minimum Grade C/4)
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant) are advantageous but not essential
