About the role

As a Supermarket Assistant (Senior Lead Driver Assessor), you’ll work with the wider shop team to provide the customer service we’re known for and support a variety of shop‑keeping tasks. You’ll also oversee the e‑commerce operation across the branch.

Due to working time regulations, applicants must be 18 years or over to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the picking operation is efficient.
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement them with support from the management team.
  • Coaching and training the team on all e‑commerce tasks, including assessing driving standards.
  • Support the interviewing process of new drivers and assess their driving ability.
  • Act as an ambassador for great customer service and a role model for the team.
  • Stock replenishment – keep shelves full and products in the right place at the right time.
  • Fulfill online customer orders ready for delivery by drivers.
  • Reduce wastage by following due diligence and applying markdowns to products nearing sell‑by dates.
  • Assist with checkout support, managing Click & Collect orders, and fulfilling on‑demand orders.
  • Maintain a safe and tidy working environment with general shop‑keeping tasks.
  • Work varied hours (37.5 hours per week) across seven days, including early starts, late finishes, evenings, and weekends.

Essential skills/experience

  • Full valid B‑Category UK manual driving licence with no endorsements.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Experience leading, training and coaching a driving team.
  • Strong time‑management and record‑keeping skills.
  • Ability to work independently, be self‑motivated and adaptable.
  • No involvement in any blameworthy collisions within the past two years.

Desirable skills/experience

  • Previous experience in a driving role.
  • Knowledge of chilled vehicles.
