Specialist Teacher (SEMH) – Primary Inclusion Team (PIT)

Salary: Main scale (plus SEN Allowance)

Required From: September 2026

Positions: 1 x Full Time Position, 1 x Part Time Position

Overview: Established in 2015, the Primary Inclusion Team (PIT) has built a strong reputation across Salford for its relational, child‑centred and solution‑focused approach. Through coaching, consultation, training and specialist support the team combines high levels of support with professional challenge to help schools develop sustainable inclusive practice and improve outcomes for children experiencing social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) difficulties. We are seeking two experienced and highly skilled teachers to join our team through DfE Experts at Hand funding: one full‑time post and one part‑time post.

The Appointed Person Will:

  • Have a secure understanding of the range of factors that can create barriers to a child’s participation, engagement and success within mainstream education.
  • Have excellent communication, coaching and consultation skills and be able to support school staff to develop effective inclusive practice.
  • Be confident in providing both support and professional challenge to senior leaders and staff across a range of school contexts.
  • Have experience of supporting children with SEMH needs through relational, inclusive and evidence‑informed practice.
  • Have experience of delivering high‑quality and engaging training and professional development.
  • Be an effective and adaptable team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate resilience, self‑reflection and a sense of humour.
  • Be committed to improving outcomes for children and young people through collaborative working and solution‑focused practice.
