Job Summary
To work in an established team, maintaining the green and open spaces at Canary Wharf to a high standard.
Responsibilities
- Maintain turf, bedding plant displays, hedges, shrubs, trees, grass cutting, weeding, pest and disease control, and plants in atrium and office areas.
- Assist in all landscape schemes requiring ground preparation, planting and turfing, bulb planting, and any other usual tasks that fall within the upkeep of open spaces.
- Apply knowledge of pests and diseases and how to control them.
- Operate and monitor automatic irrigation systems.
- Carry out tree and aerial hedge pruning and have knowledge of tree pests and diseases.
- Observe and implement health and safety procedures in particular relation to the use of pesticides.
- Perform litter picking duties in all landscape areas, as directed by the Landscape Manager.
- Work within a team and also be capable of working on own initiative with minimal supervision.
- Assist other departments in emergencies and when workload is low due to weather conditions or winter seasons.
- Develop and maintain effective communication with other team members and the Landscape Supervisor.
- Adhere to Method Statements & Risk Assessments.
- Take good care of all plant, vehicle and equipment used and report faults in accordance with Company Procedures.
- Demonstrate an active commitment to self‑development.
- Be competent with mobile phone technology as tasks are delivered via a smart phone.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in horticulture or landscape work.
- Valid UK driver’s licence.
- Ability to work independently and unsupervised.
- City & Guilds or National Certificate in Horticulture desirable.
- Appreciation of the importance of excellent customer service.

- Regular working hours: Monday to Friday 7:30am‑5:30pm (summer) and 7:30am‑3:30pm (winter).
