HGV Class 2 Rigid Driver – Peterborough

Lineage is the world’s largest provider of temperature‑controlled logistics solutions. We are seeking an HGV Class 2 Rigid Driver to support our Peterborough depot. The role includes driving London routes, multi‑drop deliveries, and maintaining vehicle compliance.

About the role

Working hours are Monday to Friday with typical start times between 3am and 7am. Hours are 10‑12 hour days. Pay is £16.54 per hour, paid weekly; overtime beyond 39 hours is paid time and a half.

Responsibilities

• Support the Transport Manager to keep operations running smoothly and efficiently.
• Ensure the vehicle is always legal and road‑worthy, completing daily checks per the Daily Vehicle Check Sheet and Guide to Maintaining Road Worthiness.
• Report any vehicle defects and maintain the vehicle inspection rota, servicing and MOT dates.
• Carry out multi‑drop deliveries safely and on time.
• Perform manual and pallet pump truck work and operate a tail lift (PPT).
• Drive the vehicle in accordance with the law, tachograph regulations, and driver hour limits.
• Ensure correct goods are loaded, secure, and checked off with customers, obtaining signatures.
• Maintain Driver CPC training hours within the required five‑year period.

Qualifications

• At least 12 months Class 2 driving experience and a valid Class 2 licence.
• Full valid driving licence, Digi‑Tacho holder, DQC card holder, and Driver CPC.
• Good driving skills and knowledge of current Road Transport Regulations.
• Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.
• Experience operating a tail lift and pump truck.
• Multi‑drop experience and comfort driving London routes.
• Numeracy and focus on accuracy.
