Afterschool Wraparound – Childcare Activity Leader

Location: Fairlight Primary School, Saint Leonard’s Rd, Brighton BN2 3AJ

Hours: Two positions available

  • One role: 2:45pm – 6:00pm, Tuesday and Thursday (2 afternoons per week)
  • Second role: 2:45pm – 6:00pm, Monday-Friday (5 afternoons per week)

Pay: National Minimum Wage up to £12.71 per hour

Contract: Term-time contract with option to work in Holiday Camps as overtime

Start Date: September 2026 – new academic school year

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver age-appropriate activities such as multi-sports, arts & crafts, group games and creative play.
  • Set up safe and engaging play spaces; maintain cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Supervise children with care and enthusiasm, ensuring each child feels welcome, safe and included.
  • Prepare snacks and manage sign-in/out procedures with attention to detail.
  • Work split shifts: 7:30-9:00am and 3:00-6:00pm (for part-time flexibility).
  • Collaborate with the team, step in as a lead when required.

Requirements

  • Passion for working with children, positive can-do attitude.
  • Creative thinker capable of turning ordinary afternoons into engaging experiences.
  • Team player, confident running activities and managing a group.
  • Experience in teaching, coaching, childcare or youth work is a plus but not essential.
  • Must comply with Keeping Children Safe in Education policy and be exempt from Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
  • Provide two references: one from most recent employer and, if applicable, one from a childcare setting.
  • Undergo DBS check – prepare required documentation.
