The James Paget University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a proactive and compassionate Trust Volunteer Coordinator to lead the recruitment, engagement, and ongoing support of our volunteer workforce, playing a key role in delivering an outstanding Patient Experience agenda. This role involves developing and implementing effective volunteer recruitment strategies, ensuring volunteers are well‑trained, supported, and aligned to Trust values, and creating meaningful opportunities that enhance patient care and service delivery. Working collaboratively with clinical and non‑clinical teams, the Coordinator will champion the voice of patients and volunteers, ensuring feedback informs continuous improvement. The successful candidate will be highly organised, people‑focused, and passionate about building inclusive, impactful volunteer programmes that make a real difference to patients, families, and staff.
Responsibilities
- Be responsible for the recruitment of new hospital volunteers in accordance with the Trust recruitment policy/Volunteer Policy
- Maintain an up-to-date database of all hospital volunteers
- Line‑manage front‑of‑house receptionists ensuring there is front‑of‑house reception cover five days per week
- Maintain a dedicated team of Butterfly Volunteers to provide ongoing support to patients at the end of life, their families, and carers at the James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
