Telecoach – Mental Health Nurse / Occupational Therapist / Social Worker

Our First Response service offers 24/7 support to people of all ages living in Bradford, Airedale, Wharfedale or Craven, ensuring that access to high-quality mental health care can be achieved by people suffering with a mental health crisis in line with Core 24 Guidance.

Accessed through a single phone number, people can ring for help from psychological / mental health trained staff, who can identify their needs and intervene or signpost as required to ensure that they can access the right support in a timely way from an appropriate service.

Main duties of the job

Tele coaches provide brief clinical risk assessment and UK mental health triage, formulations and brief psychological interventions for people presenting in mental health crisis.

Working via telephone, tele coaches are experts in validating, de‑escalating crisis and coaching people in distress tolerance and emotional regulation strategies.

Using a range of brief psychological interventions, tele coaches empower patients, carers and families to manage distress and crisis effectively.

Right to Work in the UK

Applicants must possess the legal right to work in the United Kingdom. For individuals requiring a visa, the Trust offers sponsorship only for registered healthcare practitioner roles. The Trust cannot provide a role if the applicant is unable to meet sponsorship and Home Office requirements.

Prior to appointment, confirmation of right‑to‑work status will be required. During employment, any change to this status must be reported to the manager immediately and documented. Failure to maintain the legal right to work may result in termination of employment.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Degree level education in Psychology (BPS registered) or Occupational Therapy (HPC) or Registered Mental Nursing Certificate (RMN) with current registration on part 3 or part 13 of the NMC register, or Social Care or Social Work (GSCG), or a Psychological Therapist with a BPS‑approved postgraduate certificate.

Experience

  • Experience in relevant area of mental health practice.
  • Application of evidence‑based psychological therapies relevant to the clinical service.
  • Acute mental health experience.
  • Involvement in innovative clinical practice.
  • Experience conducting telephone or face‑to‑face assessments.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and will require a Disclosure and Barring Service check to verify any previous criminal convictions.
