Job Overview
The school is looking to appoint a part‑time SEND Learning Support Assistant from September 2026. The successful assistant will work closely with pupils who are deaf or hearing impaired, using British Sign Language (BSL) to support communication, engagement and learning both inside and outside the classroom, while working alongside teachers and specialist staff to meet each pupil’s individual needs.
Responsibilities
Provide support to deaf and hearing‑impaired pupils, facilitating communication through BSL, and contributing to their learning experience.
Qualifications
- British Sign Language (BSL) qualification or proven experience using BSL
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEND
- Experience working with deaf or hearing‑impaired pupils is desirable
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A patient, caring and adaptable approach
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families
