Duties of the Post
- To teach 1 hour of clarinet lessons (half‑hour, paired lessons; 4 students in total)
- To teach using the MiSST methods for learning rhythms and notes on the stave, in order to ensure consistency of messaging between our Saturday provision and students’ in‑school lessons
- To teach using Vamoosh books to begin with and/or choosing appropriate repertoire that ensures consistent student progress and engagement
Woodwind orchestral tutoring
- To assist with section matters during rehearsals, alongside our oboe/bassoon and flute teachers
- To resolve problems discretely and keep a general eye on behaviour within the section
- To play along with the students during full orchestra rehearsals
- To lead sectional rehearsals as and when required
- To fairly decide, alongside the conductor, how the section are seated
- To be enthusiastic, encouraging and empathetic towards our students at all times
Other
- Work with the MiSST Team / SMS Team towards any performances
- Undertake tasks that would be deemed reasonable within the remit of this role
