Management Trainee (Apprenticeship)

Overview

Hackney Council invites applications for a Level 5 Operations / Departmental Management Apprenticeship within the Management Trainee Programme. The role is a 2‑year, fixed‑term apprenticeship that offers structured placements across council departments, training to the Operations Manager Level 5 Apprenticeship Standard, and opportunities to develop leadership skills in a local government setting.

Responsibilities

• Complete a variety of six‑month placements in frontline resident‑focused services and support services.
• Work on transformation projects aligned with the Corporate Transformation Programme.
• Engage in corporate activity and strategic priorities of the Strategy and Transformation Division.
• Apply training and learning activities to meet apprenticeship standards.
• Participate in workshops, networking and progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification in any subject (e.g., 3 or more A‑Levels at grades A‑C/4‑9, apprenticeship, BTEC extended diploma).
• GCSEs in Maths and English (grades A‑C or 4‑) or Level 2 Functional Skills.
• At least 18 months relevant work experience.
• Not hold a Level 5 or higher management‑related qualification.
• Evidence of a link to Hackney (resident, student, former student, alumnus of a local institution, recipient of local services, or employee of the Council).
• British or EU passport, or permission to live in the UK, and residence in the UK or EU for at least 3 years.
