Behaviour Support Nurse

We are looking for a registered Learning Disability nurse to join our established Behaviour Support team to work safely and competently alongside adults with Learning disabilities who have behaviours that challenge within the principles of positive behaviour support.
The role requires the nurse to work creatively, collaboratively and compassionately to deliver the very best standards of care in support of an innovative, safe and progressive service.
The post holder will work closely with the wider MDT and also be required to work with families/carers/others who are providing support to the person within a variety of community assessment.
There will be direct patient contact which includes completing assessment of needs, care planning and interventions. The role will include the ability to produce and prepare a person-centred PBS plan and on occasions deliver training as required.
It will be a requirement for newly qualified nurses to undertake a preceptorship course within the organisation.
Main duties of the job
- Provide pro‑active implementation of the Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) pathway.
- To work as a positive team member within the Behaviour Support Team and the wider multi‑disciplinary team.
- To work collaboratively with the individual and others.
- To provide a safe and specialist service recognising own professional limitations.
- To hold and manage a case load.
- Completion of specialist assessments; formulation; implementation and evaluation of measurable interventions, supported by robust risk assessments.
- To maintain clear, contemporaneous records of all case work, using approved electronic and non-electronic recording systems.
- To work within legal parameters, having a working knowledge of relevant legislation.
- To actively participate in regular clinical and management supervision with line manager and Therapists.
- To actively participate and complete revalidation as required by the NMC.
- Actively participate in own appraisal and ensure objectives and work plans are met.
- To comply with all Mandatory and Statutory training requirements.
- Assessment and supervision of student nurses and other learners.
- To participate in audit and service evaluation programmes.
- To contribute to the clinical governance infrastructure, assisting to ensure the delivery of high‑quality services.

Person Specification
Essential and desirable
- Registered RNLD or RNMH
- Working with adults with a Learning Disability who present with complex and challenging needs
- Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support
- Training in Positive Behaviour Support
- Able to manage a case load
- Delivery of and participation in training
