As an English Teacher, you’ll support international Naval personnel to develop the language skills they need to succeed in a global defence environment—building confidence, capability, and cross-cultural understanding.

Job Title

English Language Teacher (Full-time, Term-time only)

Dartmouth, United Kingdom

Working Hours

37.5 hours a week, 45 weeks a year (term time). The role is offered on a term time basis working 44 weeks per year, with non-working weeks taken 2 weeks at Christmas and Easter and 3 weeks in August. Salary is pro rata and includes contractual annual leave and bank holidays.

Security Clearance

Must be eligible for UK Security Clearance at SC level.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Deliver high-quality English language teaching to international Naval students.
  • Plan and prepare lessons, assessments, and supporting training materials.
  • Mark work and provide constructive feedback to support learner progress.
  • Contribute to the design and development of training courses and materials.
  • Ensure a safe, compliant, and professional learning environment at all times.

Essential Requirements

  • Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or Learning and Teaching in Higher Education Certificate or equivalent such as DELTA.
  • Undergraduate degree ideally in English or Modern Languages.
  • Experience of teaching English to speakers of other languages.

Desirable Requirements

  • TESOL/CELTA Certificate or equivalent.
  • ILM Level 3 Award (Workplace Coaching for Team Leaders and First Line Management).
