Year 4/5 SEN Teaching Assistant – Autism Base

Location: Lambeth, South London

Pay: £108.35 per day

Start Date: ASAP / September Start

Contract: Full-time | Long‑term

Our school is a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Lambeth looking for a supportive Year 4/5 SEN Teaching Assistant to work within our specialist Autism Resource Base.

The Role

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for Year 4 and Year 5 pupils with Autism (ASC).
  • Support pupils in accessing a personalised curriculum tailored to their individual needs and EHCP targets.
  • Promote communication, emotional regulation, social interaction and independence.
  • Implement behaviour support strategies, visual timetables and sensory approaches where appropriate.
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals to deliver high‑quality support.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and help pupils build confidence both in the Autism Base and during inclusion opportunities within mainstream classes.
  • Support personal care where required.

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience supporting children with Autism or other Special Educational Needs in a school or similar setting.
  • Calm, patient and resilient with a nurturing approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Understanding of Key Stage 2 curriculum is desirable.
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is beneficial but not essential.
  • Graduates in Psychology, Education or related fields are encouraged to apply.
