An exciting opportunity to join the special school nursing team. Working within the team provides a unique opportunity to care for children and young people with complex physical and learning needs. You will be expected to work within special schools and across community paediatric clinics.

This post is 15 hours per week spanning three days, term time only, providing an excellent work‑life balance for the right candidate.

The SNSN team is highly experienced and can support you to develop clinical skills using a competency‑based framework. You must be enthusiastic about working with children with complex needs and display compassion, understanding, excellent communication skills and teamwork. Working within the SNSN team will provide a warm and friendly environment committed to the care of children with complex needs.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate person to join our team. The role will be within both the Special schools, supporting CYP with complex physical health needs whilst they access their education, and within community paediatric clinics.

The role is a valuable opportunity to be part of an experienced team; you will be supported to develop clinical skills using a competency‑based assessment framework. You will need excellent communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team. In return you will become part of a team that is warm, friendly and committed to the children and young people we support.

We are looking for committed colleagues with experience of working with children, preferably in a health care setting.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • NNEB/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a child related subject
  • Good level of basic numeracy and literacy

Knowledge & Skills

  • Awareness of Safeguarding Children and Child Protection
  • Good verbal and written skills
  • Good level of computer skills

Experience

  • Previous experience working with children
  • Experience working with children in an education setting
  • Experience working in a clinic setting
  • Experience working with children with complex health needs
  • Able to work with minimal supervision in a multi-disciplinary team once competencies are achieved
