At present, University Hospitals of North Midlands is unable to offer visa sponsorship for Band 2 to Band 4 roles, as these positions do not meet the minimum salary and skill thresholds required under UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) regulations.
The University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust North Midlands and Black Country Procurement Group (NMBC) is responsible for the Strategic and Operational Procurement for UHNM (Royal Stoke University Hospital, County Hospital, Royal Wolverhampton Trust, Walsall Healthcare Trust, North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust and Black County Healthcare NHS Trust) and 36 partner NHS Organisations within the Staffordshire, Shropshire, Cheshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Lancashire Health Economies.
The UHNM – NMBC (North Midlands and Black Country) Procurement Group is responsible for the management and control of expenditure in excess of £840 million across both the Staffordshire, Stoke on Trent and Black Country health economies. The NMBC is split into seven main functions including:-
- Strategic Procurement
- Operational Procurement (e.g. warehousing and stock management services)
- Capital Procurement
- System Services (e.g. Purchasing to Pay Systems)
- Special Projects
- Clinical Procurement
- Black County Pathology Service
This post is based at the Manor Hospital, Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, Moat Road, Walsall, West Midlands WS2 9PS.
Main duties of the job
We are looking to appoint a Procurement Administrative Assistant to join the North Midlands & Black Country Procurement Group which is recognised as one of the leading Procurement organisations in the NHS and public sector.
The candidate will have the opportunity to develop skills within the NHS and will be able to gain experience of basic administration duties using a variety of systems and deal with members of the public. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated individual with excellent typing and interpersonal skills to support the provision of an efficient and effective clerical support service to the department.
Candidates should possess a professional attitude to their work and have the ability to work flexibly in a busy environment undertaking a variety of administrative processes and practices.
Candidates should also be willing to work as part of a team as well as being able to use their own initiative and prioritise their workload to meet deadlines.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Excellent keyboard skills
- Ability to use their own initiative
- Experience of Microsoft Office packages

Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
- GCSE Maths and English
- Strong verbal and written communication in English
- A minimum of EDCL/computer technology or alternative qualification
Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience
- Knowledge and understanding of customer base
- Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other computer skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritise, maintaining an organised approach, whilst paying attention to detail
- Experience of a range of IT systems
- Time management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask effectively.
- Ability to manage a varied workload
- Previous NHS experience
- Previous experience of a P2P system such as Oracle
- Previous experience of working and data reporting
- A university course or an apprenticeship in computer skills
