Control Room Apprentice

At North Wales Police we have a great opportunity for an Apprentice in our Control Room to provide general administration and support.

You will obtain a solid grounding in customer service within North Wales Police and work towards the completion of a NVQ level 2 in Customer Service. The training programme will include general administration within the designated business area within North Wales Police.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a quality customer service to all members of the public.
  • Answer calls received at a centralised switchboard and, by use of prescriptive questioning, filter calls and direct callers to the relevant department or person promptly and effectively. Where suitable, advise and resolve at first point of contact.
  • Operate the switchboard fault reporting system in accordance with procedure and notify supervisor if any action is necessary.
  • Support the Control Room Operations as and when required, e.g. Major Incident situations.
  • Receive and transmit data and message/data, e.g. email, and utilise Force Systems to resolve queries.
  • Work closely with other team members to support various functions and contribute to team objectives.

Qualifications and Experience

  • IT skills and an understanding of Microsoft Office or similar IT packages.
  • Good communication skills.
  • The ability to work well in a team.
  • Self‑motivated and flexible.
  • 4 GCSEs at Grade C or above or equivalent level of qualification (to include Maths and English). For those awaiting their GCSE Results, please provide predicted grades.

Eligibility

Applications from individuals who already have an NVQ Level 2 (or higher) in Business Administration/Customer Service or a similar subject will not be accepted.

There is no age limit on applications for this role and the Apprentice National Minimum Wage rate applies.
