The Pharmacy Digital team at UHDB is a small, dedicated group whose mission is to improve patient care through the appropriate use of data and technology. This includes management of Trust ePMA systems, pharmacy‑specific systems, and automation solutions such as stock control, dispensing robots, cabinets and tracking solutions. We also analyse the data produced by these systems, supported by both our own and Trust Business Intelligence analysts.
Main Duties
- Support the Senior Pharmacist – Clinical Systems with management of the Trust ePMA solutions.
- Investigate, suggest and build the case to implement new ideas for our systems.
- Work collaboratively with the Chief Pharmacy Technicians for Automation and Pharmacy Systems to ensure interoperability between systems wherever possible, maximising the benefits of that interoperability.
- Lead training for the UHDB Pharmacy team and act as a point of reference for Pharmacy staff on the ePMA system.
Candidate Profile
In order to support this role you will be someone who:
- Is a registered Pharmacy Technician in the UK with broad operational and/or clinical experience.
- Has used ePMA systems before either in a clinical or operational capacity.
- Can identify a problem, determine its root cause, implement a solution and then measure the effectiveness of that solution.
Education, Training & Qualifications
- Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
- Significant post‑qualification experience with substantial operational experience.
- Membership of other general professional groups e.g. APTUK.
- Membership of specific related professional groups e.g. British Computer Society, Federation of Informatics Professionals.
Skills
- Demonstrates clinical reasoning and judgement and is able to manage difficult problems.
- Assesses when to act within departmental guidelines and when to refer problems to senior staff.
- User‑centred design; changes system behaviour to suit clinical need.
- Demonstrates the ability to proactively engage a wide range of stakeholders.
- Can clearly articulate and translate complex digital solutions.
Knowledge & Experience
- Computer literacy – general PC skills such as ECDL or equivalent.
- Knowledge and experience of ePMA system configuration.
- Current ePMA configuration experience – this could be for any system.
- In‑depth knowledge of configuration for the Nervecentre system.
