School Sports Coach

Salary: £14.25 to £17.29 per hour

Shift Pattern: 8:30 to 16:30 – Monday to Friday – Term Time Only

CER Education is looking for a Teaching Assistant with Sports Coaching experience to work in one of our partner SEN schools in Durham. The school is an alternative provision for students with special educational needs (SEN), including Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH).

Requirements

• At least 3 months’ relevant experience in sports, football, fitness, residential or SEMH settings
• Graduates in Sports Coaching, Sport and Development, Level 3 in Sport encouraged to apply
• Level 2 or Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools is not required, but encouraged

Roles and Responsibilities

• Provide individualized support to students mainly aged 11-19 with SEMH, ASD or ADHD
• Work closely with the class teacher to deliver tailored interventions and support strategies
• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, encouraging student engagement and confidence
• Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Healthcare Plans (EHCPs)
• Support students in both academic and social development, helping them build essential life skills
• Provide pastoral care and emotional support, ensuring students feel safe and valued
• Support class teacher with managing behavior within the classroom
• Support on school trips, outreach days and life skills lessons
