Special Needs Teacher
SEN School, Andover
September 2026 start – Permanent position
Academics are recruiting on behalf of a residential SEN school in Andover which caters for young people aged 11-19 years with a primary diagnosis of autism, complex needs and challenging behaviour. All young people have an EHCP.
They are seeking a dynamic, committed, and creative Special Needs Teacher to join their dedicated team in September.
As a Special Needs Teacher, you will deliver engaging, adaptable lessons that build confidence, curiosity, and achievement in learners with additional needs across KS3 and KS4.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high‑quality teaching within Key Stage 3 or Key Stage 4.
- Support students to achieve qualifications up to GCSE level.
- Adapt teaching approaches to meet individual EHCP outcomes.
- Motivate and engage learners through inclusive, creative practice.
- Provide meaningful feedback to accelerate progress and build confidence.
- Contribute to enrichment and the wider life of the school.
- Work collaboratively within a skilled and supportive team.
Qualifications
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Experience teaching at KS3 and KS4.
- Strong classroom management and a flexible, responsive teaching style.
- A reflective practitioner committed to continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A genuine passion for working with young people with SEND.
- A collaborative mindset and commitment to whole‑school values.
- Experience in curriculum development (desirable).
- A forward‑thinking approach and enthusiasm for shaping provision.
