The Reception Graduate Teaching Assistant role in Birmingham is now open for a temporary position from September 2026 to July 2027. Based at an ‘Outstanding’ primary school in Yardley, this placement offers daily pay between £85 and £101.

This role supports children across the EYFS curriculum within a Reception class, helping them settle into school routines and build confidence.

Responsibilities

  • Provide classroom support and work with children in small groups and on a 1:1 basis where needed.
  • Reinforce early communication, literacy, and number skills.
  • Work closely with the class teacher to help pupils make a positive start to school.

Candidate Profile

You are patient, encouraging, and able to communicate clearly with young children. You want meaningful classroom experience, enjoy helping children develop confidence from the earliest stage, and are keen to build the practical skills needed for a future in teaching.

Requirements

  • Degree – A 2:2 or above in a creative subject.
  • Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
  • Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
  • Desire to work with children – Genuine interest in supporting pupil progress and wellbeing.
  • Career Goals – A desire to train as a teacher and build a long-term career in education.
