About the role:
Full‑time Family Support Worker (35 hours, 5 days a week) delivering high‑quality support to families where a child or young person has a life‑threatening or terminal illness. You will work within the South West Care Team, in partnership with health, education and social care professionals, providing emotional, social and practical support to families and managing your own flexible schedule.
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver needs‑led emotional and practical support to families.
- Build and maintain supportive relationships, understanding grief, loss and change.
- Provide bereavement support and maintain a listening ear for families coping with terminal illness.
- Work collaboratively with team and volunteers to ensure a high‑quality service, including writing case studies and family updates.
- Maintain accurate records, comply with child protection, information sharing and data protection rules.
- Use IT confidently (MS Office and other tools) to support daily tasks.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Experienced child, health, education or social care professional with a recognised qualification in one of these fields.
- Warm, inclusive approach to achieving goals quickly and correctly.
- Practical and people‑oriented mindset, thriving at a fast pace while maintaining accuracy.
- Knowledge of diversity issues affecting children, young people and their families.
- Proficient in child protection, information sharing and data protection.
Requirements:
- Full current driver’s licence and flexible working arrangements.
- Enhanced DBS disclosure.
- Availability to work full time (35 hours a week) and cover family needs on schedule.
- Capacity to manage a high‑intensity, emotional environment with resilience.
Salary and Benefits:
- Annual salary of £24,000 pa.
- Company car (P11D value £23,000‑26,000, taxable benefit £6‑8K).
- 5% pension contribution from the organisation, you contribute at least 3%.
