Apply for the Ranger 14.16 per hour
Location: Helston
Job Description:

As a Ranger, you’re a champion of nature conservation and the great outdoors, and you’ll play a crucial role in keeping the nation’s beloved countryside and coast in good shape, for wildlife and for people.

Contract: Fixed term contract until 26-Feb-2027

Hours/ working pattern: Part-time, 22.5 hours per week. You should be willing to work some weekends, bank holidays and evenings, and be on call.

What it’s like to work here

At Penrose, National Trust places range from dramatic coastal scenery at Gunwalloe to the varied woodlands at Penrose which surround Loe Pool, Cornwall’s largest natural freshwater Lake. Most of Penrose is designated as part of Cornwall’s National Landscape for its beauty and history, and our strategy for the next decade builds on our work to create a landscape where people and nature are thriving.

You’ll be helping to protect and care for habitats, wildlife, public access routes and visitor infrastructure, along with machinery. You’ll share your knowledge and enthusiasm and listen to others who love this area as much as you do. Whenever and wherever you come across people, you’ll take the time to talk to them and answer their questions, rather than rushing away to the next task.

You’ll make sure that high standards of practical conservation work and presentation support great outdoor experiences on the land in your care. You’ll build relationships in the local community, proudly representing the Trust and letting people know about the work you and the local team are doing.
