About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Gloucestershire County Council as a Social Value Apprentice within the Employment and Skills team, part of the Environment, Education and Infrastructure Directorate.

In this role you’ll help us make sure the Council’s contracts deliver real benefits for local communities. This includes supporting work with suppliers and partners to create opportunities such as jobs, support for community projects, and environmental initiatives.

You’ll gain experience working with a wide range of colleagues, including commissioning, procurement and contract management teams, as well as local businesses and community organisations. This is a varied and impactful role where you can see the difference your work makes.

Alongside your day‑to‑day role you’ll study towards the Level 4 Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability Practitioner apprenticeship. You’ll also receive free affiliate membership of the Institute of Sustainability and Environmental Professionals while studying, giving you a strong foundation for a career in sustainability.

We’re looking for someone who is organised, motivated and creative, with good communication skills and a desire to make a positive difference in local communities.

Additional Information

The council is not currently able to offer sponsorship in this role. Candidates will need to have right to work that enables them to commit to at least 6 months’ employment. Right to work is not transferable from a sponsored role held with another employer.

It is a legal requirement, under the Immigration Act 2016, that anyone appointed to a ‘customer facing role’ must be able to demonstrate an ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in fluent English.

Hybrid working arrangements are available for the majority of our roles, giving teams the opportunity to work in a way that suits them, balancing service need and individual choice, with a mix of both remote and office working.
