Lead Tutor – ESOL Adult Learning
We are looking for experienced and passionate Lead Tutors to join our Skills, Employment & Adult Education Service. This role leads and delivers high‑quality English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) adult learning programmes that support learners to achieve their personal, educational, and employment goals. In addition to teaching ESOL sessions, you will lead curriculum delivery, manage a small team of learning support assistants or volunteers, mentor other tutors, coordinate learner support, arrange volunteering placements and enrichment activities, and contribute to quality assurance and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Lead curriculum delivery and ensure high quality ESOL sessions.
- Manage a small team of learning support assistants or volunteers.
- Mentor other tutors and support their professional development.
- Coordinate learner support, including pre‑literate learners, safeguarding concerns and link learners with community agencies.
- Collect and analyse learner feedback through surveys and focus groups.
- Conduct and coordinate IQA sessions and contribute to internal quality assurance processes.
- Arrange volunteering placements and enrichment activities to aid learner progression.
- Support inclusion and break down barriers to learning for diverse learners.
Qualifications and Experience
- Level4/5 CELTA, TESOL, DTLLS/DET/DIT (ESOL) or equivalent teaching and ESOL subject specific qualifications.
- Significant experience delivering adult ESOL learning, including with pre‑literate and learners with diverse needs.
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles and inclusive teaching practices.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding, equity and continuous improvement.
- Right to work in the UK; no sponsorship is offered.
- Works with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and must pass a DBS check.
