Responsible to: The Lead Teacher of Visual Impairment at The Primary Additionally Resourced Provision at Dalton J I and N School and The Head teacher: Mr Ian Richardson.
Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Additionally Resourced Provision for Children with a Visual Impairment at Dalton J I and N School. The successful candidate will support children with visual impairment both in provision and in outreach schools. Children within the Provision and from across the authority are taught and supported by QTVIs, specialist VI ETAs, braille and large print technicians and habilitation specialists.
Responsibilities

- Have excellent time management skills and the ability to work as part of a dedicated and creative team who are committed to securing the best outcomes for our children.
- Perform the tasks and duties of an Educational Teaching Assistant in line with the SEND Code of Practice, Children and Families Act 2014 and the Quality Standards for Specialist Teaching and Support Services for Visually Impaired Children.
- Provide tailored support for individual children and small groups both within the Additionally Resourced Provision and in Outreach schools under the guidance of QTVIs and the class teacher.
Qualifications
- Experience of working in schools and settings with children with a range of Special Educational Needs.
- Desire to develop skills specifically in the field of Visual Impairment.
- Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, Children and Families Act 2014, and Quality Standards for Specialist Teaching and Support Services for Visually Impaired Children.
We will require an Advanced Criminal Record Check via the Disclosure and Barring Service.
We are looking for a candidate who has experience of working in schools and settings with children with a range of Special Educational Needs, with the desire to develop skills specifically in the field of Visual Impairment.
