Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Apprentice HGV Driver role. We have 3 opportunities available, 1 in each of our depots in Eversley, Chilton & Nursling. The Apprentice HGV Driver will support the safe and efficient transport of waste, aggregates, and materials between customer sites, recycling centers, and other company locations. Day-to-day activities include assisting experienced drivers with vehicle checks, learning to operate HGVs in compliance with road safety and company procedures, and helping with loading and unloading materials. The role also involves maintaining accurate delivery and collection records, following route plans, and communicating effectively with dispatch and site teams. Under supervision, the apprentice will build skills in waste management logistics, customer service at collection and delivery points, and basic vehicle care and cleanliness.
Qualifications
- Interest in developing professional driving skills, including safe HGV operation, vehicle checks, and adherence to road safety regulations.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and a safety-first mindset when working on construction, demolition, and recycling sites.
- Good communication and teamwork skills to work effectively with drivers, site staff, and customers.
- Basic numeracy and record-keeping skills to support completion of delivery notes, logs, and route documentation.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and adapt to different site environments.
- Eligibility and willingness to work toward the required HGV driving qualifications and apprenticeships as defined by the training program.
- Full or provisional UK driving license essential; previous experience in transport, construction, or waste management is beneficial but not essential.
- Commitment to learning, following instructions, and upholding Collard Group’s standards for safety, sustainability, and customer service.
