Student/Graduate Teaching Assistant role at Axcis, a specialist education recruitment agency focused on Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This position offers hands‑on experience supporting children and young people with additional needs in primary and secondary schools across Gloucestershire.
Key Responsibilities
- Support students 1:1 or in small groups throughout the school day.
- Help pupils access learning, communication and daily routines.
- Encourage independence, confidence and social development.
- Work closely with teachers, therapists and SEN professionals.
Student Profile
- Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)
- Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
- Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASD)
- Sensory impairments (visual or hearing)
- Epilepsy or other medical needs
- Behaviours linked to communication or sensory differences

Hours, Pay and Training
- Hours: 08:30am – 03:30pm (full‑time and part‑time options available)
- Pay: £14.25+ per hour, depending on experience
- Weekly pay every Friday
- Initially temporary, with potential to become permanent
- Free training through the National College
Eligibility and Requirements
- Child Only or Child & Adult DBS (Axcis can apply for £57.07)
- Overseas police check if you’ve lived/worked abroad for 6+ months in the last 5 years
- Valid Right to Work in the UK (passport, birth certificate, share code or visa)
- Co‑operation with safeguarding and welfare procedures; up‑to‑date DBS required
- Exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 for roles involving children or vulnerable adults
