Are you considering a career change and looking to make a real difference? Do you have transferable skills from customer service, care, youth work, or any role working with people?
We are currently recruiting enthusiastic and reliable individuals to work as Classroom Support Assistants across a range of secondary schools in Newport and the surrounding areas from September 2026.
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience in education, especially for those considering teaching, psychology, or working with young people long‑term.
Did you ever feel overlooked at school, or like you didn’t get the support you needed? Now’s your chance to be that person for someone else. The impact you can have in just one day—building confidence, offering encouragement, or simply being someone a student can rely on—can shape their entire experience in education. No two days are the same, and the difference you make is real.
The Role:
- Supporting students in the classroom on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
- Assisting teachers with lesson delivery and daily classroom activities
- Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement
- Helping to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
We Are Looking For:
- Individuals looking to change career or start working in education
- Strong communication and people skills
- A patient, proactive, and positive attitude
- Experience working with people (e.g., customer service, care, coaching, youth work)
- A genuine desire to support young people
Requirements:
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain)
- EWC registration (required to work in Welsh schools – we’ll support you through the process so it’s quick and straightforward)
Why Apply?
- Opportunity to transfer youth work or support experience into an educational setting
- Rewarding role supporting pupils’ learning, wellbeing, and development
- Gain valuable experience within a secondary school environment
- Make a meaningful impact on young people’s engagement and future outcomes
