Pay: starts at £14.18 per hour, increasing to £15.45 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may apply depending on location.
We offer a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours per week, with flexible options down to 12 hours.
We need drivers available during the times listed above; contract hours will be scheduled within these windows and you will receive 3 weeks’ notice of shifts. Flexibility is welcomed if your availability is close to the advertised times.
Customers are at the heart of everything we do. As the face of Tesco out on the road, you will meet and talk to customers at their homes every day. This role is about more than driving – it’s about helping others and delivering great service with a smile.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the van and trays are clean and well‑organised.
- Keep the back yard clean, tidy and litter‑free.
- Wash trays as part of the tray wash process.
- Load the van and check vehicles for roadworthiness.
- Communicate with customers about changes to their order, including short‑code items and substitutions, and offer refunds for items they are unhappy with.
- Treat products and deliveries as if they were your own.
- Explain that customers will not be charged for substitutions.
- Deliver during the customer’s time slot.
- Call the customer before arriving if early.
- Call the store or centre if running 30 minutes or more late.
- Build relationships with colleagues to create team spirit.
- Be warm and welcoming when interacting with customers and colleagues, and say thank you.
- Act quickly to respond to changing customer needs and embrace change within the store.
- Remain energetic and driven to deliver beyond expectations, balancing home and work life.
- Share ideas with your manager and other colleagues on how to improve the store for customers.
Requirements
- Full UK/EU/EEA driving licence (automatic) for at least 12 months with no more than 3 penalty points.
- Ability to adhere to GB Domestic Driving Rules.
Eligibility
Applicants must have passed the school leaver’s age and be over 18. The role may involve work before 6:15 am or after 9:45 pm, or in areas such as the warehouse, beer, wine & spirits, counters, bakery, and driving.
