Customer Delivery Hub, Driver Technician Trainee 7.5T

About The Role

As our Driver Technician Trainee 7.5t, you will be supported through a 3‑month trainee programme to become a fully qualified John Lewis Customer Delivery Technician with a C1 driving licence. Once fully trained, you will have the unique opportunity of bringing our distinctive John Lewis service to our customers’ doors and installing the products they love—such as furniture, large electrical appliances, sound systems and TV sets—as part of a 2‑person delivery crew.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as an ambassador for the John Lewis brand, delivering excellent customer service.
• Perform daily vehicle checks and coordinate loading of deliveries with the warehouse team.
• Show respect and courtesy in customers’ homes and manage unexpected situations to find the best solutions.
• Install a range of products, including wall‑mounted TVs, integrated appliances, and hard‑wired installations.
• Keep up to date with new products and technologies to perform at a high level.
• Adhere to all legal driving regulations, including the Working Time Directive and EU regulations.
• Successfully complete the 90‑day programme, recognising that individual progress may vary based on training needs.
• Perform heavy lifting, frequently delivering large items such as sofas, white goods, sports equipment, furniture, beds, and mattresses.

Essential Skills / Experience

• UK B‑Category manual driving licence with no more than 6 points.
• Previous experience in a customer‑facing role.
• Strong verbal communication skills, both over the phone and in person.
• Good understanding of technology and an interest in installation.

Desirable Skills / Experience

• Prior experience in installation and customer delivery services.
• Experience as a role model or team leader.
