A retail security officer’s core duties include patrolling the shop floor and deterring criminal activity, assessing and identifying vulnerabilities, liaising with management and local authorities, managing vulnerable persons with empathy, completing colleague and contractor searches in line with company policy, digitally reporting incidents using tablets or phones, and preparing detailed, legible incident reports to assist the client and local authorities.

Main Responsibilities

  • Patrolling the shop floor and deterring criminal activity
  • Assess and identify vulnerabilities, and work proactively to minimise risk
  • Liaising with management and local authorities when applicable
  • Managing vulnerable persons with empathy to not cause distress
  • Completing colleague and contractor searches when required in line with customer company policy
  • Digitally reporting incidents and using tablets/phones for daily activity planning
  • Preparing detailed and legible incident reports to assist the client and local authorities

Location: Kirkcaldy

Hours: 30 hours per week

Shift Pattern: Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun (14:30 – 22:00)

Hourly Rate: £13.01

The Person

We are looking for a confident communicator capable of providing detailed verbal and written accounts of incidents. You must be welcoming, patient with customers, and able to handle conflict in a professional manner.

Required Experience and Qualification

Applicants must hold a valid SIA Guarding or SIA Door Supervisor licence. Previous experience in a retail security role is an advantage but not essential, as full training will be provided.

Applicants must also be able to provide a full five‑year checkable work or education history.
