About the Company
Our client is a product-led technology organisation continuing to invest heavily in the evolution of its platform, supporting complex and mission-critical workflows at significant scale. They are building serious engineering capability and are looking for a Staff Engineer who can shape both the frontend systems and the standards that will carry the platform forward.
The Role
This is a high-impact role for a Staff Engineer who acts as a technical force multiplier across engineering. You will lead the design and evolution of scalable frontend architectures in React, TypeScript, and JavaScript, while contributing across the wider full stack where needed. You will drive architectural decisions, improve platform performance, unblock teams, and help shape the long-term technical direction of the organisation. Key Responsibilities
- Act as Staff-level technical leader across multiple engineering teams, driving direction through expertise and influence
- Own frontend architecture and system design across React, TypeScript, and JavaScript applications
- Lead scalability, performance, and reliability initiatives across web applications
- Reduce frontend technical debt and drive measurable improvements in system health and performance
- Partner with Product to translate complex workflows into intuitive, high-quality user experiences
- Collaborate with Platform and SRE teams to improve observability and operational excellence
- Mentor engineers and elevate standards across teams through reviews, coaching, and knowledge sharing
What You’ll Need
Essential:
- 10+ years of software engineering experience operating at Staff level or equivalent
- Deep expertise in React and modern JavaScript and TypeScript ecosystems
- Strong track record building scalable, high-performance frontend applications
- Solid understanding of API integration and full stack architecture
- Experience operating within complex or legacy product environments
- Proven ability to influence technical direction across multiple teams
- Strong ownership mindset across design, delivery, and production support
- Clear communicator who can drive alignment and technical consensus across Product, Engineering, and Platform
Nice to Have:
- Experience with Node.js backend services
- Exposure to data-heavy or analytics-driven applications
- AWS or cloud-native architecture experience, and familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD, and SRE practices
