About the Role

Our client, a well-established transport and logistics business, is seeking an experiencedSenior Planner to join their busy pallet distribution operation based in Ballymena.

This is a key role within the transport team, responsible for planning and coordinating daily distribution activity, ensuring service levels are met, vehicle utilisation is maximised, and operational performance is supported.

The successful candidate will have strong pallet network or distribution planning experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to make informed decisions in a fast-paced transport environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate daily pallet distribution activity to maximise efficiency, service levels, and vehicle utilisation.
  • Create effective transport plans while considering customer requirements, delivery windows, and operational constraints.
  • Monitor and adjust plans in real time to respond to changing operational demands.
  • Support the wider planning team with problem-solving and operational decision-making.
  • Monitor, analyse, and report on key operational KPIs.
  • Handle customer enquiries professionally and efficiently.
  • Provide timely updates regarding deliveries, collections, and service issues.
  • Maintain regular communication with drivers throughout the day.
  • Support continuous improvement across planning and transport operations.

Essential Criteria

  • Previous pallet distribution planning experience is essential.
  • Proven experience in a transport planning role within a pallet network or distribution environment.
  • Strong understanding of transport operations, routing, and vehicle utilisation.
  • Experience managing and reporting on operational KPIs.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and make decisions in a busy operational setting.
  • Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficient in transport management/planning systems and Microsoft Office.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in a senior or supervisory planning role.
  • Experience supporting, mentoring, or guiding planning teams.
