Opihi College is seeking an exceptional instructional leader to join our senior leadership team as deputy principal – teaching practice, innovation and school improvement.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a Years 7–13 school committed to ensuring every young person experiences success through high-quality teaching, strong relationships, and a culture of continuous improvement. As we continue to implement the refreshed New Zealand Curriculum, strengthen literacy and numeracy, build evidence-informed teaching practice, and develop our teaching and learning playbook, we are looking for a leader who can inspire others and translate strategy into outstanding classroom practice.

The successful applicant will:

  • Lead instructional improvement across the school.
  • Coach and develop teachers and future leaders.
  • Lead professional learning aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Use evidence, inquiry and evaluation to improve learner outcomes.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Champion inclusive, culturally responsive practice while modelling our CARE values and commitment to trauma-informed practice and Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS).
