HSE Business Partner – Derby (37.5 hours per week, Permanent, On Site)
Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced HSE Business Partner to join the team in Derby.
Responsibilities
- Lead HS&E locally in support of the Business priorities and based on a sound understanding of the local HS&E performance and risk profile.
- Coach managers in effective HS&E leadership and implementation.
- Be the principal HS&E point of contact for your assigned responsibilities and accountabilities.
- Deliver on agreed improvement plans and be proactive in seeking out emerging issues.
- Identify and promote good practice.
- Work collaboratively with Business HS&E and the wider HS&E function, to build a sense of team, and alignment to business and functional strategies.
- Maintain good risk management, including up-to-date local risk profiles, to keep management informed and drive prioritised improvement actions.
- Identify common issues to incorporate in business-based improvement programs.
- Ensure HS&E critical controls are identified, managed (including through appropriate maintenance programmes) and effectively assured.
- Set expectations and lead by example on the Journey to Zero Harm.
- Lead improvements to functional or business HSE maturity by proposing and implementing changes.
- Represent the business on functional initiatives and lead changes, including on business initiatives.
- Engage beyond your sites on initiatives to optimise the programme.
- Respond to incidents and maintain communications on the situation as needed.
- Coach Managers to undertake and complete investigations.
- Analyse incident data to identify and understand trends and propose improvements actions which can be implemented across the sites.
- Support the sharing of incident learnings and apply learnings from elsewhere in a prioritised way.
- Monitor and communicate action closure status arising from incidents at site level.
- Develop the local risk-based assurance programme, consistent with the Business programme, including compliance with legal and other requirements.
- Monitor progress and support site senior leaders to deliver their lower tier assurance plans.
- Interpret, communicate and drive action on trends and insights.
- Use assurance findings to improve risk management.
- Build and maintain stakeholder engagement and communication plans.
- Build and maintain good relations with Regulators.
- Work with Senior HS & E Business Partner(s) to ensure standards and improvements are implemented as necessary.
Qualifications
- Must hold a NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent).
- Qualified member of an appropriate HSE professional body such as IOSH with evidence of continual professional development (CPD).
- Demonstrated experience in influencing managers and taking a stand when the situation demands it.
- Strong leadership qualities.
- Strong inter-personal and communication skills.
