Role

Step into a career that builds more than just facilities. At RAF Menwith Hill, we are offering an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious individual to join us as a Trainee Technical Service Manager within a military environment. This is not just a job; it is the beginning of a structured and rewarding career in facilities management, where you will gain real responsibility, practical experience, and the support needed to develop into a confident and capable leader.

Responsibilities

As an Apprentice TSM, you will work alongside experienced professionals who will guide and mentor you every step of the way. From day one, you will be immersed in the day‑to‑day management of a complex estate, learning how to deliver essential services efficiently, safely, and in full compliance with industry standards. You will gain hands‑on experience in managing facilities operations, supporting service delivery, and ensuring that everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.

This role is designed to challenge and develop you. You will build a strong understanding of compliance frameworks such as JSP 375 and learn how planned preventive maintenance is structured using SFG20 standards. You will become confident using CAFM systems like MAXIMO, helping to manage work orders, track assets, and support forward planning. Alongside this, you will take part in the delivery of small‑scale projects, gaining valuable insight into project management, legal compliance, and CDM regulations.

Health and safety will be at the heart of everything you do. You will learn how to promote a positive safety culture, working closely with teams and contractors to ensure high standards are consistently met.

Requirements

We are looking for someone who is genuinely motivated to build a long‑term career in facilities management. You will bring enthusiasm, curiosity, and a proactive mindset, along with strong communication skills and a willingness to learn. You should be comfortable working as part of a team, have a keen eye for detail, and be ready to take on new challenges.

A solid foundation in education, including GCSEs in Maths and English, is essential, and further qualifications or relevant experience will help you stand out.

The position requires British nationality and DV clearance.

Benefits

  • 6% employee matched pension contribution
  • 25 days annual leave
  • Single private medical cover
  • Life assurance 2x annual salary
  • 1x professional subscription per year
