A vacancy has arisen for an optometrist to join the hospital optometry team at Wolverhampton Eye Infirmary. The team consists of 11 Optometrists, an ECLO & 2 optometry assistants.

Duties cover a varied case‑load including core optometry clinics such as adult/paediatric refraction, low vision, and undertaking some extended‑role out‑patient clinics in specialties such as glaucoma screening.

The working environment is busy, with a challenging caseload, requiring high standards of clinical practice and good time management for clinical and non‑clinical activities.

The successful applicant for a band 6 post will demonstrate an aptitude for working in a demanding hospital setting, managing a high volume of throughput in core optometry clinics such as refraction and low vision. They will need to show an ability to take on advice and instruction, and to develop skills further in areas such as glaucoma screening. This is an ideal opportunity for someone to follow on from their pre‑registration year, and who is keen to gain experience and establish themselves in a hospital‑based role while still having an opportunity to practice in the community.
