Our client is a fast‑growing UK engineering business developing advanced sensing, communications and wireless systems for demanding operational environments. Their work sits at the point where RF hardware, SDR platforms, signal processing and edge‑deployed technology come together to support critical real‑world applications.
They are now looking for a Senior RF Engineer to strengthen their RF hardware capability in Bristol.
As a Senior RF Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and delivering RF and mixed‑signal hardware platforms used across advanced wireless sensing and communication systems. This will include work across the full RF signal chain, from antenna interfaces and RF front‑end design through to high‑speed ADC/DAC integration, SDR platform bring‑up and hardware validation.
The Role Will Involve
- Designing RF front‑end architectures, including amplification, filtering, frequency conversion and signal conditioning
- Owning RF and mixed‑signal hardware from concept and schematic capture through to PCB implementation and bring‑up
- Integrating high‑speed ADCs, DACs and associated clocking architectures
- Designing multi‑layer RF PCBs with a focus on RF performance, grounding, shielding, signal integrity and manufacturability
- Bringing up and validating new RF hardware platforms using RF lab equipment
- Working closely with FPGA, embedded software, signal processing and systems engineers
Our client is looking for someone with strong experience in RF and analogue hardware design for wireless, radio or sensing systems. You should be comfortable working across the RF signal chain and solving real hardware problems in the lab.
Key Experience They Are Looking For
- RF signal chain design, including amplification, filtering, mixing and gain control
- RF and mixed‑signal PCB design, ideally using tools such as Altium, KiCad or similar
- High‑speed ADC/DAC integration
- Practical RF test and measurement experience using spectrum analysers, VNAs, signal generators and oscilloscopes
- Understanding of noise figure, gain, dynamic range, bandwidth, impedance control and signal integrity
- Experience collaborating across RF, FPGA, embedded software and systems teams
Experience with SDR platforms, FPGA‑based systems, Zynq‑style architectures, DSP concepts or low‑SWAP hardware would be useful, but is not essential.
This Senior RF Engineer role would suit someone who enjoys hands‑on design work, system‑level thinking and seeing hardware move from concept through to deployable technology. It offers the chance to work in a modern, fast‑moving engineering environment on technology with real operational impact.
The role is based in Bristol with hybrid working available, although candidates should expect to be on‑site at least three days per week. Occasional customer‑site travel may be required.
Candidates must be eligible for UK SC clearance.
