This role is located in one of our UK offices and requires willingness to travel predominantly throughout the UK, with occasional international travel.

What We Need

We are seeking a highly organised, client‑focused Senior Consultant to manage complex transport planning projects and provide strategic advice to ensure seamless coordination between internal teams, clients, and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate transport planning projects for major sporting and entertainment events, ensuring deliverables meet client expectations and deadlines.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, drafting high‑level communications, preparing reports, and presenting technical findings clearly and persuasively.
  • Develop and review transport strategies, traffic modelling, and infrastructure assessments, including car parking capacity, public transport integration, and sustainable travel solutions.
  • Prepare and approve invoices, monitor project budgets, and manage cost recovery processes in collaboration with finance teams.
  • Collect, analyse, and interpret event data (e.g., attendance, ticketing, arrival profiles) to inform planning decisions and produce actionable insights.
  • Coordinate with local authorities, contractors, and partners to resolve planning issues, negotiate contributions, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Support client outreach initiatives, contribute to proposals, and identify opportunities to expand service offerings in sports and major events sectors.

Skills & Experience

  • Strong background in transport planning, event logistics, or infrastructure consultancy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience drafting technical notes and client‑facing documents.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, prepare invoices, and oversee financial performance of projects.
  • Proficiency in interpreting traffic modelling outputs and applying design standards for roads, parking, and pedestrian flows.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and manage competing priorities under pressure.

Desirable

  • Experience with major sporting events and familiarity with governing bodies such as The FA.
  • Knowledge of sustainable transport strategies and Section 106 contributions.
  • Commercial awareness and ability to identify opportunities for revenue growth.

Compensation

Steer is committed to ensuring that all its employees receive a fair, livable wage. All initial compensation may be adjusted to reflect skills, abilities, internal equity, and geographic location. Work Environment

Full‑time employees are encouraged to spend approximately 60% of their time either in the office or on‑site with clients. The typical work week is 37.5 hours. Part‑time and flexible working arrangements will be considered.
