What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead, coach and develop a high-performing HVDC Operations & Maintenance team, driving a culture of safety, quality and continuous improvement.
- Provide technical leadership and specialist expertise across existing and future HVDC assets.
- Oversee the safe operation, inspection and maintenance of HVDC converter stations and associated plant in line with company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Support the development, construction, commissioning and ongoing operation of new HVDC projects and interconnections.
- Manage HVDC-related contracts, marine interfaces and stakeholder relationships to ensure effective delivery and value for money.
- Coordinate outage planning and resource deployment to optimise network performance and asset availability.
- Build strong working relationships with internal teams, joint venture partners and external stakeholders.
- Drive operational excellence through performance monitoring, cost control and effective asset management.
- Support trainee development and contribute to wider Transmission Operations objectives and regulatory commitments.
What You’ll Bring
- Strong knowledge of transmission operations, maintenance practices and HVDC systems.
- Experience with Protection & Control systems and transmission plant standards.
- Sound understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation.
- Strong leadership, coaching and people management skills.
- Ability to manage complex technical challenges and deliver practical solutions.
- Commercial awareness with experience managing contracts and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of SAP and asset management systems.
- Excellent communication, planning and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Senior Authorised Person status at transmission voltages (or equivalent experience).
Minimum Criteria
- Degree, HND or HNC in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Significant post-qualification experience within a power, utilities or transmission environment.
- Proven experience operating and maintaining high-voltage transmission assets.
- Demonstrable experience working with HVDC systems and technologies.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and asset management systems such as SAP.
