As we continue to grow, we are seeking to strengthen our construction project management team with a Senior Safety Consultant at Glasgow, Stirling or St John’s Town of Dalry, Castle Douglas. This will be an exciting opportunity for a safety professional to contribute to high quality renewable projects.
Our construction project management team comprises a professional and passionate group of engineers and construction management professionals supporting our clients to deliver their renewable energy projects on time, on budget and to the highest quality and safety standards. We operate in a cooperative, constructive and open manner and support all staff in developing to their full potential. We operate in a variety of geographies, but principally the UK, Ireland, France and the Nordic countries.
Role: The purpose of the role is to lead and provide a comprehensive health and safety consultancy service offering as part of Natural Power’s services to the renewable and energy infrastructure sector. The role will combine professional technical safety advice and solutions in the UK market, with a strong emphasis on the CDM regulations across all project phases, including decommissioning. Safety advice in other geographies will also be included within the remit of the services.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a team delivering health & safety consultancy service provision during pre-planning, planning pre-construction and construction phase services in connection with UK and wider European and global renewable developments.
- Develop and implement industry-leading methodologies, systems and processes for the delivery of the services.
- Interact proactively with clients, contractors, statutory authorities and other project stakeholders, demonstrating the ability to manage complex and challenging renewable energy and energy infrastructure projects.
- Provide construction project safety consultancy services including the preparation of design risk assessments, Principal Designer duties and hazard meetings (HAZID, HAZCON, HAZOP), in accordance with Construction, Design and Management (CDM) Regulations (or other local equivalent).
- Lead or assure the review of HSE related documentation such as Employer’s Requirements, HSE plans, RAMS, etc.
- Attend project sites from an audit and safety leadership perspective to maintain direct industry knowledge, invite practical and professional feedback from operatives and seek to involve those at most risk in the management of H&S related matters.
- Prepare timely, concise, high-quality reports as required for project and internal purposes.
- Oversee and contribute to development and delivery of HSE training where aligned to departmental and company objectives.
- Provide oversight and leadership of significant or high-potential HSE incident investigations.
- Accountability for project financial performance, including budget oversight and forecasting.
- Identify and assist in undertaking business development activities for the purpose of successfully growing and developing the services within the team.
- Line management of the safety team, including ongoing personal development reviews.
- Work in close partnership with clients, regulators, O&M teams, designers and construction site teams to ensure H&S advice is practical, proportionate and aligned with delivery realities.
- Engage early with design and engineering teams to influence safe‑by‑design outcomes, ensuring risks are reduced at source and solutions remain buildable and operable.
- Facilitate feedback loops between site teams, designers and clients to continuously improve safety processes, standards and practical application.
- Maintain a balance of desk‑based and site‑based attendance, and keep CPD and training requirements up to date, including HSEQ requirements and general management elements.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
This is a permanent, full‑time role working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
