Position Title: Director of Strategic Initiatives and Accountability

Classification: RSAA, Range 1

Reports To: Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning

Supervises: Various administrative/professional/support personnel within areas of responsibility

Position Goal: To provide leadership in the planning and execution of strategic district initiatives and projects that drive organizational growth and positive student outcomes, ensuring mission-driven objectives are met through the establishment and monitoring of rigorous performance metrics and accountability systems. This role entails providing cross-functional leadership, analyzing program outcomes to advise senior leadership on strategic decisions, creating systematic and sustainable programmatic implementation supports, and engaging stakeholders through comprehensive project management and data-driven methodologies.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years experience as a building principal
  • Master’s degree in Educational Leadership required, Doctorate preferred
  • Appropriate Pennsylvania certification: K-12 Principal Certification required, Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility preferred
  • Administrative experience in urban, public schools required
  • Experience working in a large educational system serving a diverse student population
  • Extensive knowledge of educational research methodologies and change management
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated capacity for identifying organizational trends, emerging opportunities, and potential risks
  • Experience working with and through comprehensive planning and collaboration
  • Proven track record of taking initiatives from conception to completion
  • Strong interpersonal skills evidencing the ability to work with varied constituencies
  • Proven ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple ongoing projects and personnel
  • Strong skills in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data for a variety of audiences
  • Extensive experience managing and evaluating large, dynamic educational systems, including integrated human and physical resources

Essential Functions

  • Provide leadership in the management of key district initiatives, ensuring alignment with long-term organizational mission and vision.
  • Create action steps and systematic, effective procedures to support implementation of key district initiatives.
  • Develop benchmark goals and track progress towards the success of initiatives, ensuring accountability in meeting programmatic and comprehensive goals.
  • Translate complex data into actionable insights, providing reports and recommendations to leadership.
  • Lead and support cross-departmental teams to implement initiatives and foster a culture of excellence and accountability.
  • Monitor the implementation of key district initiatives, including the communication of progress towards intended goals.
  • Identify implementation challenges, research evidence-based solutions, and provide leadership to determine and ensure effective solutions.
  • Analyze and refine internal processes to improve efficiency and drive sustainable change.
  • Collaborate with district and building leaders to provide support in the implementation of district initiatives to ensure equitable deployment of integrated resources and consistent expectations.
  • Provide leadership in developing an improved outcome of existing programs in all areas that include strategic initiatives of the district.
  • Remain abreast of all laws, regulations, rules, and policies pertaining to areas of responsibility.
  • Establish and uphold high performance expectations, collaborative planning and program development, responsive management, and personal accountability within the assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Supervise assigned personnel, conduct ongoing performance evaluations, and make recommendations for appropriate employment actions, including, but not limited to, hiring, firing, disciplinary action, etc.
  • Utilize appropriate strategies and problem-solving tools to make recommendations and decisions concerning planning, budgeting, utilization of funds, delivering services, and evaluation of services provided.
  • Demonstrate initiative in identifying potential problems or opportunities for improvement and take appropriate action.
  • Consistently represent the District in a positive and professional manner.
  • Attend training sessions, conferences, and workshops to keep abreast of current practices, programs, and legal issues associated with areas of responsibility.
  • Performs such other duties as requested/assigned by direct supervisor.

Terms of Employment

Full-time (12-month) exempt position. Salary and benefits consistent with the District’s approved Compensation and Benefits Plan and/or individual contract.
