Project Manager

Location: Farnborough, with flexibility to work from home depending on business demands

Salary: £58,400 – £74,900

Role Overview: We are looking for an enthusiastic Technical Project Manager to support a senior programme manager for a government client. The role is full‑time and permanent, requiring SC clearance or willingness to undergo clearance.

Your Role and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for flawless execution of projects.
  • Coordinate with technical leads to understand and manage complex technical solutions demanded by the client.
  • Manage technical discussions within the programme team.
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on‑time, within scope and within budget.
  • Develop project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure resource availability and allocation.
  • Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs.
  • Report and escalate to management as needed.
  • Manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders.
  • Perform risk management to minimise project risks.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
  • Excellent organisation, communication and leadership skills.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Proven track record in successfully delivering projects or task work packages.
  • Extensive experience in Project Management.
  • Experience in SAFe Agile and Waterfall delivery cycles.
  • Good interpersonal skills and judgement for dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to engage and work within a multi‑functional programme team comprising customers, suppliers and internal staff with an awareness of engineering principles.
  • Sound understanding of business, finance and personnel management techniques and commercial aspects of projects.
  • Ability to communicate, negotiate and influence effectively.
  • Enthusiastic self‑starter with good verbal communication.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid organisational skills including attention to detail and multi‑tasking skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Technical background in software development/test activities.

Clearance Requirements:

  • You will be required to gain UK SC (Security Clearance) for this role.
  • To be eligible you must have UK citizenship and have been a resident in the UK for a minimum of 5 years.
