Facilities Manager – Hard & Soft Services FM

Senior Facilities Manager responsible for leading FM delivery for a prestigious client at Gloucester Business Park. Permanent role offering £53,000 per annum plus comprehensive employee benefits.

Overview

Lead a team of engineers and oversee a large onsite support team, including cleaners, reception staff, grounds people, handy people, and floor champions, ensuring a reliable, professional, and customer‑focused service every day.

Responsibilities

  • Leading hard and soft services

    Take ownership of day‑to‑day FM delivery across both technical and non‑technical services; lead engineers and coordinate support teams so the site runs smoothly, safely, and professionally; oversee services including cleaning, reception, grounds, handyman tasks, floor support, planned maintenance, and reactive works.

  • Creating a great customer experience

    Serve as the main FM contact for the client, building strong relationships and responding quickly to priorities; ensure service standards, KPIs, and SLAs are achieved while maintaining customer experience; find practical ways to improve service delivery.

  • Leading and developing people

    Lead, motivate, and support a diverse onsite team, helping them understand expectations and take pride in their work; create a positive, accountable culture across all service lines; coach teams, solve day‑to‑day issues, and keep communication clear.

  • Keeping the site safe and compliant

    Champion a safety‑first approach across all FM activity; ensure health, safety, environmental, statutory, and compliance standards are met; spot risks early, challenge unsafe behaviours, and promote safe working practices.

  • Managing budgets and performance

    Manage the FM budget, controlling costs, WIP, debt, margin, and P&L performance; deliver services within agreed commercial targets while maintaining operational standards; report clearly on performance and use data to support better decisions.

  • Supporting projects and improvement

    Lead FM‑related projects from planning through to delivery; keep projects on track, on budget, and aligned with client and business expectations.

Qualifications

  • Strong background in both hard and soft services FM.
  • Experience leading engineers and managing large onsite support teams.
  • Facilities management skills (technical and non‑technical services).
  • A calm, practical leadership style that brings different teams together.
  • A genuine focus on excellent customer service and strong client relationships.
  • Good commercial awareness, including budgets, cost control, reporting, and contract performance.
  • Solid understanding of health and safety, compliance, planned maintenance, reactive works, KPIs, and SLAs.
