Location: London – Heathrow

Overview

Vanderlande is a global market leader in the design, manufacture, installation and service of automated material handling systems and related services. We deliver reliable project and service delivery across key markets including airports, warehousing and parcel solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for ensuring complex projects are cost‑ and change‑controlled and protected from commercial risk through contract interpretation, management and administration for both customers and subcontractors.
  • Manage financial control of projects through forecasts, cash‑flow and cost monitoring, application of payments and billing plans.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with customers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders to promote project engagement and successful delivery.
  • Continuously improve commercial management disciplines, community development and best practices to support better individual and collective project delivery.
  • Upskill and mentor the commercial team to develop an effective Commercial Management team, implementing commercial strategies and targets in collaboration with senior leaders.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience within airport projects, ideally Heathrow.
  • Experience with contracts such as NEC3, NEC4 and MF/1.
  • Commercial management of a complex engineering project generating over £10 million per annum.
  • Ability to drive and influence teams to meet programme dates and manage change processes through analysis and quantification of scope for compensation events.
  • Strong understanding of project programmes and schedule delay analysis.
  • Supplier and subcontractor management, including pre‑ and post‑contract relationship management.
  • Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to coordinate and prioritise work in a fast‑moving environment.
  • Proficiency in negotiation, diplomacy and conflict resolution.
  • Membership of a professional body (e.g., RICS, CIOB, ACOSTE) preferred.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary project teams, taking ownership and accountability for commercial success.
