This is a super exciting time to launch our Stop Smoking Service across the City of London and Hackney (Smokefree City and Hackney). We’re looking for a Community Engagement Lead to join the team.

Our programmes support individuals to improve their health behaviours and make sustainable changes. Residents across the City of London and Hackney will benefit from a variety of stop‑smoking pathways, including online (Gloji Smokefree) and face‑to‑face support.

Marketing and Communications

  • Lead the development and delivery of strategic marketing plans to increase awareness and uptake of stop‑smoking services across City and Hackney.
  • Manage multi‑channel communications, including social media, digital marketing, print materials, events, and stakeholder communications.
  • Oversee the creation of culturally appropriate and accessible health promotion materials aligned with public health objectives.
  • Support the promotion and reputation of Gloji Smokefree services across Hackney and the City of London.
  • Manage marketing budgets, external suppliers, and campaign timelines to ensure value for money and successful delivery.
  • Work in partnership with Thrive Tribe’s centralised Marketing Team to build local marketing plans and develop promotional campaigns and resources.
  • Stay informed on emerging public health trends, smoking cessation research, and marketing best practices to drive innovation.
  • Ensure all communications and engagement activities comply with GDPR, safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion standards.
  • Ensure due consideration is given to Information Governance and Clinical Governance legislation, requirements and guidance.

Outreach, Community Development and Engagement

  • Represent Gloji at smoking cessation related internal and external meetings.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with local authorities, NHS services, community organisations, GP practices, pharmacies, and voluntary sector partners.
  • Lead community outreach initiatives, workshops, and engagement events to strengthen local relationships and increase service visibility.
  • Develop targeted campaigns to engage diverse communities, priority populations, and underserved groups in smoking cessation support.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to engagement staff, ambassadors, or volunteers involved in outreach and campaign delivery.
  • Work collaboratively with operational teams to align engagement activity with service delivery goals and national tobacco control priorities.
  • Use data, insights, and service performance metrics to evaluate engagement effectiveness and inform future engagement strategies.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and updates for senior leadership, commissioners, and stakeholders on engagement outcomes and impact.
  • Work with colleagues across all of our Thrive Tribe services to contribute to new projects and service developments.
  • Help maintain the ethos of Thrive Tribe by driving our organisational culture forward across our services and embedding our values.

About You

  • Strategic marketing and campaign delivery experience.
  • Knowledge of public health or behaviour change campaigns.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience with digital marketing and data analysis.
  • Understanding of diverse communities and health inequalities.
  • Experience in networking, partnership management and co‑production.
  • Experience leading a project or team is a bonus.

Contract

Full Time (37.5 hours). This role is initially offered as a 10‑month fixed‑term contract. There may be an opportunity to extend the contract beyond this period, subject to service requirements, funding availability and organisational approval.

Salary

Starting at £32,000.
