Fire Risk Assessment Manager – Fixed Term 12 months

To lead the Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) programme, managing all desktop reviews and on‑site surveys, ensuring findings are recorded, prioritised and progressed to completion. The role owns the end‑to‑end management of all fire safety remedial actions and liaises with Royal Mail Group stakeholders to ensure alignment of standards, processes and protocols.
About The Role
Lead and manage the national Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) programme, ensuring assessments, remedial actions, compliance reporting and fire safety standards are effectively delivered across the estate, while providing expert advice, risk assurance and governance to support legal compliance and continuous improvement.
This is a national role that can be based from any UK location; the successful candidate must be fully mobile and willing to travel regularly to Royal Mail sites, major operational hubs, supplier locations and other business locations across the UK as required. The role is primarily site‑based, requiring close collaboration with operational and engineering teams, with occasional remote working where business needs permit.

Experience
- Experience operating within a compliance environment with responsibility for risk‑based assessment, action tracking and governance.
- Experience planning and coordinating work programmes across multiple sites, managing priorities, stakeholders and deadlines.
- Demonstrable experience engaging site teams to gather information, validate findings and deliver practical, proportionate risk controls.
- Experience producing management information (MI) and presenting updates to stakeholders, including risk themes, overdue actions and programme performance.
- Experience improving processes and implementing consistent ways of working, including aligning templates, protocols and reporting with Royal Mail Group requirements.
Qualifications
- Relevant qualification in fire safety / fire risk assessment (or demonstrable equivalent experience).
- Commitment to maintaining competency through CPD and keeping up to date with fire safety legislation, standards and guidance.
- Competent using IT systems to manage FRA records, action trackers and evidence (e.g., compliance databases and reporting tools).
- Membership of (or working towards membership of) a relevant professional body (e.g., IFE, IFSM, IOSH).
